The Last Summer Day Has Come and Gone Away..

Well, summer's over and we're well on our way to Autumn! Not that we had much of a summer but I rather like Autumnal colours so its a good thing in a way.

I'm moving back over to my original blog for the time being -unless Global Warming kicks in and summer returns in October- so you can find new blog updates over there.

Toodle pip for now! x

Sketchbook In The Cheese Drawer.

Its WeeUs innnit lol. I should patent... Anyway. I haven't drawn much over the past week and a bit, mainly because I've misplaced my sketchbook. Not happy abut it, I think it quite possibly could be in the greenhouse but I haven't checked yet. (Saying that, my phone turned up in the fridge the other day so heaven knows.) My 'Stranraer Academy Reunion' drawing was in it and I want it back in once piece, so here's hoping. As I was saying, haven't drawn much except the three figures above which have already been transferred onto my wall. Even if James looks like he's dressed in plastic sheeting...

The second above picture was taken from across the River Avon in Bath -I think, I'm not good with geology and geography- of one of the very few bridges to have shops both sides. Although the water looks green and very murky, it is in fact crystal clear and drinkable, or so the boatman said. Not that I fancied it, there were ducks swimming about eating small fish in it... Scrummy.

It has rained constantly since we got back. It was dry for about two hours yesterday but other than that its rain all the way. The soft rain where you get absolutely soaked, according to Peter Kay anyway. I really should stop watching comedy DVDs. Going to my head. And why do my sentences. Seem to be. Getting shorter. By the. Word? Not sure.

Speaking of sentences, I have found a quote that I rather think sums up what I'd be like if I ever do become a teacher. It just reminds me of the kinda thing I'd say, and I ha vent yet figured if that's a good thing or bad-
"Genius does what it must, talent does what it can, and you had best do what you're told."

I like it.

One hath returnethed.

Upon arriving across the Scottish border we were greeted by rain, wind, and a temperature of 13*C. Compared to brilliant sunshine, no sea breeze and temperatures of 34*C, this was a helluva contrast. I rather enjoyed our holiday, taking in Bristol, Bath, Arboretums and other places of interest was rather fun, and aided by the gorgeous weather made it all the more holiday-like. Saying that, its nice to be home, to see the dogs again and get into a comfy bed etc. 34*C was a bit hot at times, especially when walking around the warmth of a forest. I'll post as I go along about my holiday, I've been up since 4am this morning, and its now 9.30pm. Sleeeep.

Bath has jumped to the second of my favourite cities. Architecturally, the stone which every building is crafted from is gorgeous and sunny in colour, whole city matches. Bath Cathedral is out of this world. The stone work detail in the ceilings is awesome, and to think it was all hand-crafted is something else. Also the grave plates and name plates carved into the walls and floor, (I've always had a fansination with graves and thinks, call me morbid but hey) are beautiful and intricate. There was one that read, "Rest In They Peace, Manly Power." I know I shouldnt have but I found it quite humourous... *shrugs*

Excuse the dodgy quality of these pictures, my camera decided to break on me and I had to use my telephone instead. I love the one of the Bath building in the middle thooough. The past 5 weeks have flown by, I cant quite believe its nearing the end of our holidays. There's always the October ones to look forward to now..

The Big Weekend...

The next few days are going to be rather interesting from my point of view. Not only are we going on holiday, but the exam results shall be arriving and there's a devastating Casualty Episode being aired. These two factors have somewhat overshadowed my eagerness to go on holiday. Having put the exams out of my mind, almost in hope that they would never come if I never thought of them, I have avoided all talk of the date. As much as I cant wait to go on holiday, I certainly could wait a wee while longer on these results. But its not for a few days yet, maybe if I begin to panic now the time will go by slowly...

Added to this, Saturday night, the first night of my Holidays is going to be spent glued to the TV, texting in a frenzy to the people I normally watch Casualty with over the absolutely brilliant episode coming up. Breif history and outline, even if you dont watch-

Selena's a doctor (left in pic), Harry was a doctor but left to be Health Minister and save the ED. Selena loves Harry. Harry loves Selena, and they pretty much always have for about 4 years but havent admitted it to each other. Harry gets held hostage within the hospital. Selena wants to save him because she loves him. Struggle enfolds, Selena gets shot at point blank range. Maggie (right in pic) reveals a secret that Selena was hiding, she was pregnant, as the team try to save her. The team save the child, but lose Selena. Harry is all destroyed as is Maggie and the rest of the team. Main point is, IT'S GOING TO BE TOO SAD TO WATCH.

But I'm still watching. :D

Anyway, fanatical rant over, the flooding is apparently cleared down in Pershore and Evesham so I should be able to get connected at least one to update on here. But for now, I'm off for a week. We leave at 4am tonight and I'm not packed yet..

"Aye well I mean aye."

Many moons ago, (well not many moons ago, rather a few months back) our school was visited by the wondrous Gaelic poet, entitled Aonghas MacNeacail. We loved him so, Shaun, Zanda, Tom, I and the rest of Miss Dunn's English class. With his bumbling nature, poor grasp of telephone technology and honest dislike of all poetic techniques he fitted in like a.. like a.. well like a Gaelic poet in an English classroom. As the weeks passed and Aonghas continued his teachings of poetry, Miss Dunn's obvious yet subtle dislike for him became more and more apparent, which as a class we found rather hilarious as it certainly brightened up lessons. Not that they weren't bright enough already, fun escapades with Tom and The 4Bs and after Aonghas' departure, many an anecdote of a moment spent with him. The Wee Dug often cropping up in every conversation.

Soon after, the horrifying news came that Miss Dunn was leaving. However over a few MSN conversations and plotting for what to get Miss Dunn as a leaving gift, Shaun and I devised an awesome plan. (It did involve a bit of Internet sleuthing but thats not important... *whistles innocently*) We figured if we used our "highly intelligent" brains we could source Aonghas' telephone number and contact him for a surprise. One night, Thursday the 29th of March to be precise, I lived the Miss-Dunn-English-Class Dream and telephoned thee Aonghas. Though, he wasnt in but his cheery wife gave me his mobile without question. Odd as that is, I phoned anyway and had a rather long conversation over his school visits and how we were going to get this surprise to Miss Dunn. May I add, he answered the phone like so-

Myself- Hello is this Aonghas MacNeacail?
Aonghas- It might be...?

As if he was James Bond. Which rather rocked. But anyway, I did manage to get him to agree to what we were asking and after swapping email addresses all Shaun and I had to do was wait. And wait we did. Rather a lot of waiting as we had near forgotten about it until one day at school Shaun was handed a large envelope with a message that it was from Aonghas to us. What Aonghas sent us was in fact wonderfully more than what we were originally asking, and this is exactly what was in the rather large padded envelope-

Awesome isn't it? All we had originally asked for was a humorous signed photo or something that Miss Dunn would find funny but also memorable. But those framed Haikus were just excellent. The waiting came again, and we manage to keep it relatively secret between us until we alerted the rest of our class to what the plans for Miss Dunn's last day were. This last day was barely a month ago, and it was rather sad yet gleeful day. The whole class turned up in the English base, where the lucky people have a big eatery thing, and presented the Haikus to Miss Dunn. She laughed, and cried too, but thought they were lovely and said she was going to miss us all. It was great also as all Shaun and myself's Internet.. sleuthing (cough) and patience and incredibly awesome leaving gift idea plan concocting over MSN paid off as it was certainly something she'd remember us by and something we'd all remember too.

Don't ask me why I'm posting this, I felt the need to post something before I went on Holiday and I found the picture in my Received Files and this subject was chosen. Aonghas MacNeacail was and still is a living memory of 4th Year so it seemed right that I relect a little. :) I'm more then sure Shuan's next blog post ties in with this so follow those links over to your right somewhere and you'll find it. Enjoy! x

Losing Our M&Ms and Eating Our Marbles.

Becky and I have come to the decision that we're both losing our marbles. Well, more than we already have. Discussing what each other had been up to in the holidays so far over a kilogram bar of Galaxy in the garden, we got comparing day to day events, soon finding out that we were both running our lives by lists. Rather ironically as at the time I had a To Do list the size of the phonebook scribbled on my wrist, with the words "Post It Notes" being top; and Becky had numerous pieces of old envelopes filling her pockets covered in hurried hand writing and makeshift maps to where her keys lay.

I'd noticed that over the past few weeks I've slowly been losing my memory space, often wasting half of my time searching for a pen that works before I forget what I'm to remember and the other trying to remember why I needed it in the first place. Becky was quick to agree saying she'd never forgotten what she was doing halfway through doing it as much her life before. NewScientist suggests this is in fact a sign that our brains are working, but I think with the lack of school and therefore the lack of need for concentration is taking its toll and we're turning into zombies when doing mundane tasks. So much so, we forget even doing them in the first place.

Another suggestion that Becky made is that our "highly intelligent" brains are simply making room for all our "highly intelligent" thoughts. Pah. The inverted commas around highly intelligent are not just there for aesthetic reasons, we're the type of people who have their Hallowe'en Costumes already planned and who eat M&Ms in alphabetical order of colour. [Vinnie Van Gogh and Einstein here we come, and for those who wonder depending on your brand of course, its Blue, Brown, Green, Red then Yellow.]

It's all good though as the weathers brightening up, we've had a barbeque and I have the obsessive compulsive antics of Duror in The Cone Gatherers to keep me somewhat sane. :P I'll start properly worrying when I find myself lost in Tescos, trying to buy Post It Notes to remind me to buy Post It Notes...

The Great British... Summer?

As I've said before, my holidays have consisted of the Cotswolds and Worcestershire for as long as I can remember. The weather is always gorgeous and sunny with no sea breeze to put a chill in the air. However, this year tells of a different story. The Midlands of England are currently under water from numerous burst rivers and days of heavy rain, motorways are backed up beyond recognition and millions of homes are without power. This years Holiday is going to be a rather interesting one I can tell you that. I will try and blog it all the way, if I can get to an Internet cafe that hasn't flooded...

Here's the Holiday 07 Plan-
-Get there with both cars intact and dry.
-Cross Evesham Bridge without being swept away.
-Hope that Sedgeberrow hasn't been swept away.
-Remember my ridiculous amount of books.
-Read some of the books.
-Bristol.
-Bath.
-See Aunty Fairy whos 99 in Taunton.
-Find an Internet Cafe.
-Read something Poolside.
-Bourton-on-the-Water, even if it may be Bourton-under-Water.
-Cheltenham.
-Resist urge for Wellies.
-An Arboretum.
And goodness knows what else.

Over the past few days I really have done nothing. Its terrible. I've never known a Summer holiday to be soo dull in all my life. Although, saying that it gives me plenty of time to read and draw, cannae complain. Although I frequently do... There's just nothing to report! The exciting-est thing that's happened to me in the last few days was getting stung by a bee upon discovering a hive in the hedge. The bee's werent too chuffed either...

On a lighter note, Larbrax beach the other day. Lovely.
